According to the requirements of the research project, the copper foam was prepared in customized dimensions and specifications so that it could be directly used for electrode preparation and experimental testing.

This project is another example of OQITOP’s customized metal foam solutions for universities, laboratories, and energy-storage research institutions.

Project Overview

Product: Espuma de cobre
Material: High-Purity Copper
Structure: Three-Dimensional Open-Cell Porous Structure
Aplicación: Electric Double-Layer Capacitor Research
Customer: Seoul National University, South Korea
Purpose: Laboratory Electrode and Energy Storage Research
Customization: Dimensions, Thickness, PPI and Porosity can be customized

Unlike conventional solid copper sheets, copper foam provides a continuous three-dimensional porous network with a significantly larger accessible surface area.

For laboratory research, this structure can provide researchers with a conductive porous substrate for depositing or supporting different electrode materials.

Why Copper Foam for EDLC Research?

Electric Double-Layer Capacacitors, commonly known as EDLCs or supercapacitors, store electrical energy primarily through charge separation at the interface between the electrode and electrolyte.

The structure of the electrode and current collector can therefore have an important influence on experimental performance.

Copper foam offers several characteristics that make it interesting for energy-storage research.

Three-Dimensional Porous Structure

The interconnected porous network provides a much larger three-dimensional structure compared with a conventional flat metal sheet.

Depending on the experimental design, active electrode materials can be deposited onto or incorporated into this porous framework.

Good Electrical Conductivity

Copper has excellent electrical conductivity, allowing copper foam to provide continuous conductive pathways throughout its three-dimensional structure.

This can make it useful as a conductive substrate or current collector in suitable laboratory electrode systems.

High Surface Area

The porous structure provides significantly more available surface than a flat copper sheet of the same external dimensions.

For researchers developing porous electrodes, this can provide more available area for loading carbon materials, metal oxides, conductive polymers, or other experimental electrode materials.

Easy Customization

Different experiments may require different pore structures and sample dimensions.

Copper foam can be customized in terms of:

PPI (Pores Per Inch)

Porosidad

Espesor

Length and width

Circular or rectangular shapes

Small laboratory samples

Larger research sheets

This allows researchers to compare different porous structures under the same experimental conditions.

Customized for Laboratory Research

University research projects often require more flexibility than standard industrial orders.

A researcher may need only a relatively small quantity of material while testing several different thicknesses, pore sizes, or dimensions.

For this Seoul National University project, we prepared the copper foam according to the customer’s experimental requirements rather than supplying only standard commercial dimensions.

This enables the research team to integrate the material more easily into their experimental electrode configuration and continue evaluating its performance in the EDLC system.

Copper Foam for Energy Storage Research

In addition to EDLC research, porous copper foam is also commonly evaluated as a conductive substrate or structural material in various laboratory projects, including:

Supercapacitor research

Battery electrode research

Electrochemical experiments

Electrode current collectors

Catalyst support structures

Thermal management experiments

Energy storage materials

Electrochemical deposition

Laboratory filtration and separation

Porous metal research

The appropriate copper foam specification depends on the electrode material, electrolyte, operating potential, mechanical requirements, and experimental configuration.

Custom Metal Foam for Universities and Research Institutes

OQITOP works with universities, laboratories, and research institutions on customized porous metal materials.

In addition to copper foam, we can provide:

Nickel Foam | Titanium Foam | Cobalt Foam | Silver Foam | Stainless Steel Foam | Other Porous Metal Materials

Different PPI, porosity, thickness, dimensions and shapes can be produced according to the requirements of each research project.

Whether the project requires a few laboratory samples or a larger batch for repeated experiments, we can evaluate the specifications individually.

Need Copper Foam for Your Research Project?

If you are developing a supercapacitor, battery, electrochemical electrode, catalyst, or other energy-storage project, please send us your required specifications.

For faster evaluation, please provide:

Material + PPI + Porosity + Thickness + Dimensions + Quantity + Application

If you are unsure which copper foam specification is suitable for your experiment, you can also provide the experimental purpose and electrode configuration for evaluation.

OQITOP – Customized Metal Foam Solutions for
