Introdução

  1. Our aramid honeycomb core is engineered for demanding lightweight structural applications where high stiffness, impact resistance, and excellent fatigue performance are critical. Manufactured from aramid (Nomex-type) paper impregnated with high-temperature resistant resin and formed into a precision hexagonal cell structure, it offers an outstanding strength-to-weight ratio compared with traditional solid materials. The low density and excellent mechanical stability make it ideal as a core material in sandwich panels for aerospace interiors, rail vehicles, marine components, and high-end industrial structures.
  2. In addition to its mechanical advantages, aramid honeycomb provides excellent flame resistance, low smoke and toxicity, and good thermal and acoustic insulation properties. It maintains stable performance over a wide temperature range and in harsh environments, making it suitable for aircraft floors, partitions, doors, radomes, racing cars, wind turbine blades, and sporting goods. We offer a wide selection of cell sizes, densities, and core thicknesses, as well as CNC-machined and contour-shaped parts, to meet your specific engineering and certification requirements.

    Especificações

Tipo Aramid honeycomb core / honeycomb sandwich panels / blocks; supplied as core-only or bonded with skins (glass fiber, carbon fiber, aluminum, stainless steel, prepreg, FRP, etc.) for lightweight structural, impact‑resistant, and vibration‑damping applications.
Structure Regular hexagonal (or special geometry) cells made from aramid paper (e.g., Nomex®‑type) impregnated with heat‑resistant resin, then expanded and bonded to form an ultra‑lightweight, high‑stiffness honeycomb structure with excellent fatigue resistance and energy absorption.
Aramid Grade Typically meta‑aramid (e.g., Nomex®) paper for good flame resistance, dielectric properties, and mechanical performance; other aramid papers or phenolic‑impregnated papers available according to certification, temperature, or cost requirements.
Cell Size Typical cell size from about 1.8 mm to 19 mm (e.g., 1/8″, 3/16″, 1/4″, 3/8″, 1/2″); smaller cells provide higher compressive and shear strength and better surface quality, while larger cells reduce weight and can improve resin flow and acoustic/thermal performance in sandwich laminates.
Cell Shape Standard hexagonal cells as default; special geometries (over‑expanded, rectangular, or custom patterns) available to meet specific forming, airflow, or energy‑absorption requirements.
Foil / Paper Thickness Aramid paper thickness typically from about 0.05 mm to 0.2 mm, selected according to required density, compressive strength, shear strength, and weight; higher thickness/density grades used for higher mechanical load or impact‑critical areas.
Overall Thickness Range Core thickness typically from about 3 mm to 300 mm or more; finished sandwich panel thickness depends on core height and facing skins, commonly in the range of 5–60 mm for aerospace interiors, transportation, marine, and industrial panels.
Panel Size (L × W) Core blocks and panels available from small cut pieces to large‑format panels (e.g., up to approx. 1220 × 2440 mm or larger, depending on production line and transport conditions); special sizes, shapes, and contoured or 3D‑formed parts available on request.
Density Range Density adjustable via cell size, paper thickness, and resin content; typical densities from approx. 29 kg/m³ to 144 kg/m³ (about 2%–10% of equivalent solid material), offering extremely low weight with tailored stiffness and strength.
Mechanical Properties Very high stiffness‑to‑weight and strength‑to‑weight ratio; excellent in‑plane and out‑of‑plane shear properties; outstanding fatigue and impact resistance; widely used as a load‑bearing or stiffening core in sandwich structures where weight saving is critical.
Thermal & Acoustic Low thermal conductivity for good insulation and thermal stability; open‑cell structure supports acoustic damping when combined with suitable skins and perforations; commonly used to reduce noise and vibration in aircraft interiors, trains, and marine cabins.
Fire, Smoke & Toxicity Aramid honeycomb (e.g., phenolic‑impregnated Nomex®) offers excellent flame resistance with low smoke and low toxicity; widely used to meet stringent FST (Fire, Smoke, Toxicity) requirements in aerospace and public transportation interiors.
Surface Finish (Core) Core typically supplied as as‑manufactured aramid honeycomb with natural yellow‑brown color; cell walls can be cleaned or primed if required; edges can be cut, CNC‑machined, or potted to suit bonding, sealing, and environmental or cleanliness requirements.
Surface Finish (Panels) With skins: compatible with prepreg lay‑ups and bonded skins (glass fiber, carbon fiber, aluminum, etc.); external surfaces can be finished with gelcoat, paint, films, decorative laminates, or protective coatings according to aesthetic and environmental requirements.
Bonding & Adhesives Cores bonded to skins using structural film adhesives or paste adhesives (typically epoxy or modified epoxy systems) under heat and pressure; adhesive systems selected to meet mechanical, FST, and certification requirements for aerospace, rail, and marine applications.
Temperature Performance Designed for service in typical aerospace and transportation temperature ranges; maintains mechanical properties over a wide range of operating temperatures; specific grades available for higher temperature environments as required by the application.
Corrosion & Chemical Resistance Aramid honeycomb is inherently corrosion‑free (no metallic corrosion); good resistance to many oils, fuels, and common solvents when properly sealed within a sandwich structure; chemical compatibility depends on resin system and skin materials.
Processing & Forming Core can be cut, CNC‑machined, water‑jet cut, chamfered, and formed into contoured or 3D‑shaped parts; can be thermo‑formed or over‑expanded for complex curvature; suitable for co‑curing with composite skins in autoclave or vacuum‑bag processes.
Dimensional Tolerances Controlled cell size, density, core thickness, and flatness; specific tolerances for core and finished panels can be provided according to project specifications or applicable aerospace/industrial standards (e.g., thickness, bow, twist, and dimensional accuracy).
Standards & Reference Manufactured with reference to relevant aerospace and industrial standards for aramid honeycomb core and composite sandwich structures (e.g., ASTM, EN, MIL, and OEM specifications) covering mechanical properties, FST performance, and quality control.
Application Range Aerospace interior panels (floors, sidewalls, ceilings, galleys), aircraft doors and partitions, rail and marine interiors, racing and sports components, wind turbine blades, radomes, industrial equipment covers, and other lightweight structural or energy‑absorbing components.
Customization Custom cell size, density, core thickness, block size, machining, and contouring; compatible with a wide range of skin materials (glass fiber, carbon fiber, aramid fiber, aluminum, etc.); supplied according to drawings, CAD models, or detailed technical specifications.
Form of Supply Supplied as raw aramid honeycomb core blocks, slices, cut‑to‑size sheets, machined or contoured cores, or fully assembled composite sandwich panels ready for installation or further fabrication; optional edge‑close‑out and inserts available.
Packaging Cores and panels packed with edge protection and moisture‑resistant wrapping; suitable separators, cartons, or wooden crates used to maintain flatness and prevent mechanical damage or contamination during transport and storage; special packaging available for aerospace or cleanroom parts.
